Many people will ask if Travel Insurance is necessary or required at all. Like all types of insurance, Travel Insurance too requires a premium to be paid, and many families and individuals are averse to paying a premium for this insurance. Most families, couples, and individuals who travel at least once a year for annual holidays or several times a year on short trips of a few days, or even day trips, are unaware of the fact that opting for Cheap Travel Insurance is a safeguard and risk management against a loss during travel.
Many people who travel extensively for business, or travel writers who travel extensively, are aware of travel insurance and make appropriate arrangements for insurance, but the majority of citizens are unaware of the necessity for Travel Insurance, or just what it means. Travel Insurance basically covers medical expenses incurred during travel, insurance against financial losses such as nonrefundable pre-payments, and many other losses that a family or individual may incur while travelling, either within the country, or even internationally. This does not mean that a family or individual has to pay a heavy fee or premium for this insurance. There are Cheap Travel Insurance options available from many insurance firms, according to requirement.
The necessity and requirement for Travel Insurance is the same as for other types of insurance like Life Insurance, Car Insurance, Property insurance, etc. The basic principle of opting for insurance is safeguarding against loss. Take for instance Car Insurance; if your car is damaged due to an accident or floods, or any other reason covered in your car insurance policy, the insurance company pays for the repairs. The same principle applies for Travel Insurance. But the types of losses an individual or family could face while travelling is the most common question that arises.
There are many risks and situations where losses could be incurred while travelling and the most common risks are medical expenses incurred if an individual or family member is sick or injured during travel, emergency evacuation or repatriation due to conflicts in the country visited, overseas funeral expenses in case of death, accidental death, injury, or disablement benefits, cancellation of flights or other paid for transport, cancelled hotel bookings, etc. An individual or family can opt for Cheap Travel Insurance packages and select a package, which covers the risks that they think need to be covered, which in turn decides the premium to be paid for the insurance.
There are many insurance companies that offer numerous, comprehensive, Travel Insurance packages, but they also offer Cheap Travel Insurance packages according to client requirements, and every individual and family planning on a holiday or a short trip should make adequate arrangements for proper insurance. It is better to be cautious and safe with insurance, than to be sorry for not opting for insurance and having to bear a financial loss in case of cancellations, delays, medical emergencies, etc.

Other Paths of Interest in Breckenridge
Sarah Fox
here’s no doubt about it—Breckenridge is a town for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. The world-class skiing, biking and hiking provide reason enough to plan a vacation to this Victorian wonderland, nestled right in the core of the Rocky Mountains. Then again, there's a side to Breckenridge that you probably don’t know so on your next visit, you might consider hanging up the skis for a day and check out some other novel opportunities that lie under the mountains of Breckenridge.
You can showcase your artistic side through the Arts District of Breckenridge which hosts several workshops throughout the year that particularly get your creative juices stirring. Workshops are open to all skill level and ages. It might seem that you have your busy schedule in the city and you have no time experimenting in creative projects but a vacation is the perfect opportunity to let your artistic talents loose. If you're planning a trip in the winter, you'll enjoy the holiday-themed workshops that let you create your own Christmas cards or ornaments. Then again. you might prefer a lesson that's relevant any time of year so indulge in printmaking, Batik or Tie-Dying. Breckenridge's "Ready, Paint, Fire" is a local paint-it-yourself pottery shop that is popular among locals and visitors and they give opportunity to paint your own bowls, plates, and mugs to take home for one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
Power up with a yoga class at the Breckenridge Recreation Center or in several spas all around town. Not only can yoga help you rest those tired muscles but it can help your mind relax as well. Since unwinding and relaxing are key ingredients to any vacation, you're more than covered in Breckenridge. Carter Park offers public yoga classes for locals and visitors. Various classes and schedules are available plus drop-in students are always welcome.
Take an adventure far below by visiting the Country Boy Mine. Founded in 1887 it is known for the gold and silver it produced during World War I and II. As a way of preserving the past and keeping Breckenridge's deep mining history alive, the County Boy Mine leads excursions that travel more than 1,000 feet into a genuine gold mine where you can try your luck panning for gold after the end of your tour.
The Backstage Theatre hosts a variety of performances, ranging in genres for all ages. It will certainly feed your cultural side as it is where the tradition of award-winning and live theater shows has continued for thirty-five years. It is advised, however, to arrange for reservations early since seats sell out quickly in this popular attraction. If you prefer to be the center of attention, you can go backstage to check out the workshops that the Theatre offers for those who are interested to cast.
Appeal to your culinary powers by trying the local cuisines of Breckenridge. Main Street is lined up with endless rows of restaurants that offer various culinary treats to satisfy your taste buds. What’s probably even better though is to take over the role of chef on your own. If you're visiting Breckenridge in the warmer months, plan a trip to the Farmers' Market and pick out some local ingredients to concoct without leaving the comfort of your Breckenridge vacation home.
Even if hitting the slopes is your first priority, it's never a bad idea to take a day off and explore other worthwhile activities you can do in Breckenridge. Let your mind and body relax by treating your creative side to a day of enjoyment in Breckenridge where there’s countless of opportunities and limitless fun for everyone

Safe Travel- 10 Tips for Increasing Your Security While Backpacking
Peter Siljerud
Unfortunately you can run into problems while backpacking. Do not get paranoid - it will ruin your trip, but do have a healthy respect for things that can happen. Certain places are higher risk and warrant extra attention such as around ATMs, money changers, bus and train stations, crowded streets and markets. Adapt to the country you visit, some countries are high risk and other are low risk.
Check your guidebook and with the locals to see what the scam of the day is and which areas are best avoided (varies during day and night).
If you carry around a hand bag in high risk environments (e.g. markets) keep the bag in front of you and keep one hand on top of the zipper. Do not let it hang on your back.
Spread your money into several places (e.g. your daypack, backpack, wallet and money belt) so that you do not lose all at the same time. Hide some emergency cash under the sole of your shoe, in your sock or elsewhere.
Do not keep valuables easily accessible in your day pack and then hang it on your back. Bag slashers use razors to cut your bag and steal your valuables without you noticing. You will not feel it. Put something of little value in the outer compartment so that they get hold of that if they get hold of anything.
Be careful with your valuables and important documents (passport, tickets, and traveler´s cheques), use a money belt or leg pouch. You can get belts with secret pockets on the inside where you can store cash or you can get a separate pocket for money which you can put on the inside of your pants. The idea behind a money belt is to keep it on you - not in the daypack which you carry on your back. If it is too sweaty you may be better off leaving the valuables in your hotel than carrying them in your backpack.
If you walk with your backpack and have to stop, move a little from side to side so that it will be more difficult for anyone to get to your bag without you noticing.
Staff in supermarkets and stores may try to short change you i.e. they give you back less change than you are supposed to get and will play all innocent when you point this out. Count it to make sure you get all the money you are supposed to get.
Avoid flashing expensive jewellery, money and watches around.
Do not give money to beggars. If you want to help give to charity instead. If you still want to give money do not flash your big wallet. Instead keep some small change in your pocket to hand over.
Use small locks to lock your backpack and daypack. Combination locks are easier to handle than key locks since you do not have to bother with the keys. A disadvantage with combination locks is that they can get worn out rather quickly and suddenly they will stop working, usually when your backpack is tied to something and you are in a hurry to catch a bus :) Once the locks start giving you trouble throw them away and get new ones. If you find yourself with the combination lock not responding, dial it to your set combination and try changing the first digit one step up and one step down (e.g. your combination is 1234, change it to 0234 and 2234), if that does not work do the same with the next digit (i.e. 1134, then 1334) until you have tried them all.
Keep the lock on your daypack when you go on day tours. If you have to leave the bags behind e.g. in order to do snorkelling or to go deep into a grotto this prevents curious hands from going through your bags while you are busy elsewhere.

Transportation Pitfalls and Scams - Increase Your Safety
Peter Siljerud
If you are afraid of theft on trains or buses you can lock your bag to something with a wire. If you are on a night train you can pick an empty compartment and lock the door with a wire. Bad guys have been known to use gas to knock out people in the compartments and then go in to steal your stuff.
It is useful to have a wire to be able to lock your backpack to something e.g. while you take a night train. You can get wires at travel shops or you can get a wire mesh to put around your backpack. Note that this may attract attention from thieves since you indicate that you have something valuable in your backpack. You can cover your backpack with a towel, backpack cover or sarong in order to avoid this.
If you are two or more persons sharing a taxi, have the person paying wait until the other persons have removed the luggage from the taxi. This prevents the taxi from being able to take off with your stuff.
The procedure for paying for local bus tickets varies. In some places you cannot buy a ticket with cash on board, in others you need to time stamp the ticket yourself. Make sure you know the proper way to avoid being fined or having to wait for the next bus.
If you plan on biking a lot you may want to bring your own helmet along, they are not always available locally.
Crossing streets can make you feel like the frog in the old computer game Frogger. It can be quite intimidating when sidewalks, if existing, are used as parking lots for motorbikes and you constantly have to step out into the traffic. Check out how the locals do when crossing the street. A useful method is the "shield method" or crossing the street. Wait until a local person stands next to you on the street and that person is facing the traffic. When the local crosses the street you do that as well and use them as a shield between the traffic and yourself.
Learn how to read the maps in your guidebook, though note that guidebook maps are sometimes quite unreliable, especially in third world countries. Using high buildings for navigation can be useful. Align the map with your compass to make sure that you walk in the right direction (get a small one which attaches to your watch or key ring). It is easy to find the right street but walk in the wrong direction. If you are a real techie you may want to get a GPS.
When traveling by bus it can be tricky to follow where you are and when it is time to get off. Ask other people on the bus or try to keep track of the high buildings (e.g. hotels) you pass. It can be useful to know that a bus which travels 30 kilometers (18.6 miles)/hour travels 500 meters in a minute. Check on your map how far you need to go and how much time the bus should take to get there.
If you travel alone you can leave the door to the taxi open until you have retrieved your luggage from the trunk
Personal Experience - The Bolivian Baggage Bust
I ran into a French couple when I was in Bolivia. They were going to catch a night bus and had arrived early in the bus station. The ticket counter was closed. A man approached them and asked which bus they were going to catch. He said he worked for the bus company and took their luggage away to have it stored on the bus. That was the last they saw of their luggage

Get the Most From Your Stay at a Luxury Hotel
rahul rungta
By knowing more than the average person about Luxury Hotel Hospitality, you can experience all the secret benefits that these Hotels have to offer. This can include the cheapest rates, free room upgrades, free gifts, and more!
First off is making your reservation. Your goal is to book the cheapest rate which will take advantage of your Employer's rates, AAA or other membership rates, or get discounted Travel Agent Rates.
Contact the Hotel directly and get considered for a free room upgrade before you arrive at the Hotel by having them put your "special occasion" in the comments on your reservation.
Check-In to the Hotel when the most rooms are available between 1pm and 4pm (depending on the Hotel) so it will be easier for the Hotel Clerk to get you into an upgraded room. If you check in when there are no rooms available you're out of luck.
Your body language is critical when approaching the Hotel Clerk, do not have that "hurry up and do this NOW" mentality. Treat the employee with respect. Get on the Clerk's warm side so they WANT to make your stay special. One easy way to do this is to bring the Clerk a small box of chocolates. They will certainly send you a gift in return.
Examples of Hotel gifts are champagne, wine, chocolate covered strawberries, fruit and cheese and more.
If you know how to sweet talk the Clerk, they have the ability to give you the best available room in the Hotel for free! The best available rooms are usually given away for free to Elite Rewards members, but these people tend to be rude.
The Clerk will feel good about giving the best room away to someone nice that they feel deserves it.
Keep in mind that if the Hotel is full, upgrades are not possible!
You are in a Luxury Hotel and everything is expected to be in order. If something goes wrong, you can be compensated for your inconvenience with free gifts or Rewards Bonus Points (depending on the severity of the issue). Report your issue to the Manager on Duty.
The biggest secret in getting the most from your stay is to make the employees feel special. If you can do this, they will treat you like VIP Royalty. You will become THEIR guest not just the Hotel Chain's guest.
The Hotel Quality is nothing more than the quality of the employees hired to serve YOU. This is what makes happy returning customers.

Things to do on a Cayo Coco Holiday
Emma Lelliott
For a relaxing holiday away from the heavily visited areas of the island, a stay in a Cayo Coco hotel is a great choice. Its lack of an international airport means that its 15 miles of beaches are largely off the radars of most tourists, making it a far more peaceful alternative to Varadero - but there's a lot more charm to the area than that. Here are some of the things to do on a Cayo Coco holiday.
Wonderful Beaches
As Cuba's fourth largest island, it's no surprise that the beach is one of the highlights of a Cayo Coco holiday. The sands are snowy white and stretch off for miles (around 15 in total) and this combined with the lack of tourists means that there can be few places quite as peaceful, relaxing and perfect as Cayo Coco's stunning sands.
Superb Diving
One of the main reason people holiday in Cayo Coco and nearby Cayo Guillermo is the diving. Because it is home to the world's second largest coral reef, the conditions are absolutely perfect. The water is warm, with excellent visibility and the reef is teeming with interesting sea life. Amongst the fish you can expect to see are snappers, groupers, pompanos, spadefish and tarpons. There are diving schools around, so you can get up to speed and be exploring the coral reef in no time!
Exploring Unspoiled Cuba
The main sights of Cayo Coco reflect nature of the area - it's not aimed at mainstream tourists. As such, although there are a handful of interesting attractions around, you won't find the same number of landmarks as Havana or Santiago de Cuba. The wildlife of the island is particularly noteworthy, and it's worth dropping off at Cayo Coco Flamingos - a reserve for some of the island's fauna and flora. Amongst the creatures here, you'll find grey herons, pink flamingos, pelicans and a huge variety of duck species. A local crocodile farm also gives visitors a chance to see some of the more dangerous creatures the island is home to!
Elsewhere, Laguna de Leche (Lake of Milk) is a Cuba's largest lake, and a beautiful highlight in its own right. It gets its name for its milky colour, which is due to the underwater lime deposits.
Finally, visiting a sugar mill makes for a fascinating day trip. As one of Cuba's biggest exports, getting an idea of the conditions where it is manufactured is fascinating, and guests can also opt for a steam train ride across the cane fields.
Entertainment at the Cayo Coco Hotels
If all of this sounds a little sparse by way of attractions (the keyword really is relaxing around here!) then you'll be pleased to hear that the Cayo Coco hotels put on some excellent entertainment for those who are looking for an alternative to the beaches, oceans and natural beauty. The Melia Cayo Coco puts on great entertainment every night, for example and there's also a nightclub available to guests from all the local resorts. Accompanying this, the restaurants attached to Cayo Coco's hotels put on some excellent international cuisine.
While it doesn't have the huge selection of historical landmarks of Havana, Cayo Coco's sparse environment is a wonderful insight to the real rural Cuba, in all its natural glory. If you want a peaceful break away from it all with the sea and the sand as your main attraction, a holiday in Cayo Coco is well worth a look - and for divers, it's a must

Triumph Arching Through Time
Edward Grey
It is no question that Paris, France gained triumph when the Arc de Triomphe was completed between the years 1833 and 1836. Not only was it regarded as a canvas of their nation's rich history. Instead, it also became a reflection of the city's rich architectural heritage. Yet, the triumphant status of this structure took a long time to build.
Commissioned in 1806 after Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte's victory in Austerlitz, the arc's foundation took two years to build. By 1810, a wooden mock-up of the arch was constructed just in time for the arrival of Napoleon and his bride Archduchess Marie-Louise of Austria. Measuring 49.5 meters high, 45 meters wide and 22 meters deep, this landmark at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of Champs-Elysees, the arch honors the mighty warriors that fought for France during the Napoleonic Wars from 1803-1815.
Designed by Jean Chalgrin, the iconography of the arc illustrates a battle between heroically nude French youths and the bearded Germanic warriors in chain mail. This illustration of France's glory served as the basis for a wave of public monuments with nationalistic messages until World War I.
To add meaning to the structure's foundation, the four sculptures at the arc's base were also notable works of art. These are the Resistance and Peace by Antoine Etex, The Triumph of 1810 by Jean-Pierre Cortot and the most renowned of them all, Francois Rude's Departure of the Volunteers of '92 which is commonly called La Marseillaise. Rude's allegorical representation that reflected France calling forth its people, is also used as the belt buckle for the seven-star rank Marshal of France.
Another notable feature of the arc is the attic. The attic above the sculptured soldiers enshrines thirty shields in which the names of the major victories are engraved. As for the names of the French generals who fought with Napoleon, these are engraved inside, with the names of those who died in battle underlined. Also present at the shorter sides of the supporting columns are the names of the major Napoleonic War battles.
Beneath the arc is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Patterned after the United Kingdom's Tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey, the tomb has the first eternal flame lit in Eastern and Western Europe during the year 391. This blaze was crafted in memory of the unidentified dead during the two World Wars.
On November 12, 1919, the state originally decided that the remains of the Unknown Soldier would be buried in the Panthéon. However, a public campaign prompted otherwise. As such, the coffin was then situated in the chapel, on the arc's ground floor on November 10, 1920. It was then to its final abode on January 28, 1921. Written on the top slab is the inscription ICI REPOSE UN SOLDAT FRANÇAIS MORT POUR LA PATRIE 1914-1918 which means "Here lies a French soldier who died for his fatherland 1914-1918".
For centuries, this edifice is the best illustration of France's glorious past. The gallant history of the French soldiers of generations past has been solidified here for everyone to see and admire. Because of which, the triumph that they have fought for will remain strong in the hearts and minds of the present day French. An arc of history, an arc of gallantry, an arc of heritage: that is the Arc de Triomphe

Caribbean Christmas
Jayne Waldorf
In the tropical islands of the Caribbean, the temperature is above 75 degrees all year long, which means at Christmastime the weather is warm and pleasant .The Christmas season in the Caribbean is also pleasant because it is far removed from the rainy season, which usually occurs from late March to May. During Christmas time in the Caribbean, the temperature is also more temperate and tolerable compared to the searing hot days of the summer months.
As in many parts of the world, family, merriment, gift-giving are among the many activities that the people of the Caribbean enjoy during Christmas. Families often live in fairly close proximity to each other however. But what makes getting together at Christmas so special is that it often involves intense and laborious preparations that are not done at any other time of the year.
In many homes, an intense cleaning is done in the two or three weeks before Christmas Day. All furniture is moved and may even be rearranged and new and fancy curtains put up for the season. The best bed linens, tablecloths, cutlery and dinnerware are also used in entertaining any visitors during the season. It is a common occurrence for visitors, including people from the neighborhood, to stop for short visits during the season.
During those visits, guests are entertained with certain food and drinks, many of which are made only at Christmas time. These include fermented drinks such as sorrel and mauby, as well as the alcoholic drink rum punch. A special type of cake, called Black cake or fruitcake, is also made at Christmas. It is made with raisins and other dried fruit that are minced and placed in wine for several weeks. This cake is the traditional dessert for Christmas dinner. The main menu of a traditional Caribbean Christmas dinner includes baked poultry, roast beef ham, boiled and steamed root vegetables, rice with peas, seasoned rice or rice pilaf, with sorrel, rum punch or mauby as the beverage.
Caroling has also been a tradition, although its practiced has been declining in recent years. Small groups from churches or schools will walk through neighborhoods singing Christmas carols or, will drive from house to house to sing carols in neighborhoods primarily in rural areas where houses are not always found in close proximity.
Two Christmas traditions that are unique to the Caribbean are the practice of Jonkonoo and having a grand market. Jonkonoo consists of a group of masked revelers who take part in a parade dancing to the beats of drums, shaking tambourines and improvised instruments. The group also include stilt walkers who appear as tall as some trees and single-story buildings. Jonkonoos perform various antics to amuse onlookers and to give candies and treats to children, especially younger children who may seem scared of any of the Jonkonoo participants.
Grand market is the big outdoor market that takes place the week before Christmas up to Christmas Eve. Outdoor markets, found in the central points of regional towns, are common in the Caribbean as a place to get fresh fruits, vegetables and produce that are grown by local farmers. But at Christmas time, they also become filled with assorted items that can be given as gifts and they bustle with activity even after nightfall. It is a special treat for children to accompany parents to grand market during the Christmas season.
Since Christmas falls during the high winter tourist season in the Caribbean, Christmas is also an opportunity for many school children to perform for tourists. Many hotels take advantage of the fact that most schools and churches will have singing and dramatic groups that perform the Christmas story and sing carols and Christmas songs. These groups are often invited to provide local entertainment at hotels and guesthouses during Christmas.
Of course, it's impossible to put everything about Christmas into just one article. But you can't deny that you've just added to your understanding about Christmas, and that's time well spent

How Plan a Cruise - Your First Three Questions
Millard Hiner
So you are thinking about embarking upon your first cruise but you are overwhelmed at how much information is out there. Not only is the internet filled with conflicting information, but friends and family members all want to pitch in with their own advice. Fortunately, the best place to start is to think about the answer to three simple questions.
First, where do you want to go? Many first time cruise goers mistakenly believe that it does not matter where the ship goes, since they will spend most of their time on-board. In actuality, you will be making several stops along your way, so you will want to select an itinerary that covers a part of the world you have always wanted to see. In addition, even while on board, the weather and temperature, as well as theming and entertainment, may depend on your chosen location.
Second, what is your budget? Like any other kind of vacation, cruises are available at every price point. Often, the price is highly dependent on several factors: the type of cabin, the location, the number of days, and the cruise line. The cabin you choose is possibly the factor that will most dramatically effect the price. Many cruise lines allow you to choose between cabins ranging from a tiny room with bunks to a fully-equipped suite with balcony for six. If you are looking for a great cruise at a great price, you can often select a non-standard option, such as a "repositioning" cruise. A repositioning cruise is when the ship periodically switches between two itineraries, meaning that occasionally it will need to "reposition" itself. The cruise line usually offers these berths at a reduced rate.
Finally, what kind of atmosphere are you looking for? Do you want a formal atmosphere of luxury? Or a fun, informal atmosphere where anything goes? Another thing to think about is whether you might enjoy a theme cruise. These are great options for first-time cruise-goers because you will be assured that you will enjoy yourself. Theme and specialty cruises can be as disparate as an interactive mystery cruise, cruises for science fiction or television show fans, gay and lesbian cruises, and singles cruises.
Whatever you decide, you will be assured of having a fantastic time. Many people end up meeting lifelong friends on their first cruise, or having such a great time that they decide to cruise year after year. Cruises are a wonderful option for people of every budget who want to see the world while relaxing in a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere
